What is a Doula?
DONA international describes a Doula as
“a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.”
How does it work?
An initial, free consultation over the phone.
If you decide to move forward, next would be the first in home visit. During this visit you’ll discuss birth preferences, book and education suggestions, logistics of labor (your hospital, doctor etc) as well as optional reiki session. During labor, Brenna comes during the active stages and stays until after the baby is born. She is there to offer comfort measures (hands on touch and support), emotional and spiritual guidance, breath work, guided visualization, and as an interpreter between health care providers and laboring mom to make sure you feel heard during the process. After the baby is born, Brenna stays with you until you are settled and does a postpartum visit shortly after the birth in your home.
